The archives are the official repository for records of historical value created by and about WELS, its congregations and called workers, and related parasynodical organizations and institutions. Its mission is to offer a useful information service to WELS called workers and congregations.

Wisconsin is where three pastors serving German immigrants joined together in a common fellowship more than 150 years ago. Today, it is still where more than half of our membership calls home.
The WELS Historical Institute preserves and presents the story of God's grace to WELS. It publishes a journal and works on the restoration of Salem Lutheran Landmark Church, home of the synod museum.
