Dustin Blumer, student at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, appeared on the game show “The Price is Right” on April 21. He and other members of the seminary choir attended the taping while on tour in California in March. Blumer was the first audience member chosen to “come on down.” Later in the show, he won a bedroom set. The choir also made their TV debut when they sang “Hoch Soll Sie Leben,” a traditional seminary song, while Blumer spun the wheel in an unsuccessful attempt to get into the showcase showdown.

Anna Fink, senior at Manitowoc Lutheran High School, Wis., was awarded the runner-up Youth Award for Volunteering from the Wisconsin Public Service and Volunteer Center of Brown County in April. She was nominated for the hospice pillow project she developed for Holy Family Memorial Hospice.

Wisconsin Lutheran Family and Child Service, a non-profit organization affiliated with WELS, is breaking ground for a new senior living center in Hartford, Wis., on June 8. Construc-tion of the apartment complex will be completed mid-2009.
