Worship banner resources

Books:
You are able to find many books of basic banner patterns and instructions on www.amazon.com. Just search for "worship banners." Northwestern Publishing House, www.nph.net, carries a few books as well.

To create distinctive banners for your worship or to find more information about the purpose and function of banners in your ministry, consider these selections:

Seasons for Praise: Art for the Sanctuary by Eleanore Feucht Sudbrock
More than just banner ideas, this book is a great project resource for your entire worship arts ministry. Many unique styles of banners are included, and most are relatively simple to put together.

Raise the Banners High: Making and Using Processional Banners by Pamel T. Hardiman and Josephine Niemann
The authors' purpose is to train you in developing your own banner designs rather than just giving you patterns to follow. It is a very comprehensive volume on banners, from use to principles of design to construction techniques. The color photographs at the end of the book are inspirational in themselves.

Wielding Banners for Worship, Warfare, and Ministry: The Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How of Banners in the Hands of Christians by David J. Stanfield
The title alone gets you stirred up for banner ministry, and the information takes you even further. This volume gives foundational guidelines for banner use along with Scripture study. It is available in print version or as an electronic book (See the author’s Web site below.).

Web sites:
www.worshipbanners.org is David Stanfield's site for all manner of banner resources: his book (listed above), DVDs, flags and banners, stories, a newsletter. There is a lot of inspiration here for your banner ministry.

www.praisebanners.com is a great site for purchasing ready-made banners for all seasons of the church year. Most designs are digital photo prints, so they have a contemporary feel. Many are available at prices that compete with what you would pay for materials to make banners yourself. The company will also do custom printing or even work with you to make custom banners from your design ideas. Display stands and accessories are also available.

www.churchbannerpatterns.com has patterns that you can order for their beautiful banner designs. You can even buy fabric kits to make the banners. The selections are limited, however, and the patterns are not cheap ($40).
