I have friends who go to churches that promote dancing during worship and speaking in tongues, saying that these are major blessings. Since members of our churches don't do that, they think I am not a true Christian because we don't receive those blessings. Can you give me certain Scriptures to show what’s right and wrong?

Read 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14 in which various spiritual gifts are placed in their right relationship. It says very directly that speaking in tongues is not one of the greater gifts. It says nothing about dancing in the Spirit or being slain by the Spirit. The important gift is faith that comes through the clear speaking of the gospel. That is why we believe that the tongues on Pentecost and elsewhere in Acts were real languages which people could understand.
If we have the gospel in a language we can understand, why do we need to hear it in a language we cannot understand? If the tongue says something we already hear in the Bible, we do not need it. If it says something different than the Bible, it must be rejected.
